About Scrapbook Studio:

Hi, I'm Amy, a Surrey based textile designer and maker who explores the wonder of our natural surroundings, fragile details and the interaction of colour and light. My weaving work blends traditional heritage techniques with experimental ideas and methods to capture fine details in my pieces utilising all the knowledge from my first-class Textile Design degree and past work with Heritage Mills.

With an emphasis on creating beautiful things to enjoy, I am definitely still learning and exploring within my craft, finding joy within my practice which I hope can be absorbed by those who admire and buy my work.

My recent venture into making bags from up-cycled suit ties has been a passion project in finding my love for sewing all over again and has helped to kick start my dream of Scrapbook Studio, this is only the very beginning.

A Scrapbook of Memory

A Scrapbook of Memory is based on the collection of memories from Amy's childhood scrapbook that were mostly painted by her Great Granny throughout my childhood and collected by her mum. She wanted to recreate and capture her Great Grannys paintings and written letters and recreate them in her own style within weaving for the next generation of the family to enjoy. This became ‘A Scrapbook of Memory’ which was an exploration of techniques to form a scrapbook of abstract words, and pictorial prints within weave which tells a story of connection and Amy’s personal memories.

Gallery commission

sunset hill

A trio of woven hangings inspired by the sunsets of Amy's home town that she has captured across the years. Hand woven using spun silk and a hand dyed warp to recreate the gentle changing colours of the skies. Pops of slub wool represent the texture of clouds and add tactility to the pieces.

Each piece is unique and can not be completly replicated due to the nature of this technique.
